Since my 20’s I’ve always been interested in how with the power of your mind you can torment yourself with doubt, regret, hopelessness and in the same breath turn it around to looking for the gold between the cracks in the pavement, finding something to believe in and feeling back in control. All in a heartbeat. Probably like most of you out there, it was from those real moments of life’s-lows where you feel you really have no choice and no way out, that learning to just move one single thought to a hopeful one, or to find one simple distraction, was enough to not feel quite as crap as you felt previously.
Now I’m not claiming to be an expert on positivity and calm – you can ask my family to testify to that! But I can say, hand-on-heart, that for decades I’ve been working on how to move from that negative to a positive mindset and to be able to look in the mirror and see someone I’m proud of, love and still believe in. Over the years, I’ve learnt different techniques that build up my resilience and self-worth and attended training programmes that have supported the notion that the power is within us to make the right and necessary changes – all when we are ready.
I think that is why I ‘fell in love’ with the Positive Intelligence programme as it summarised and simplified what I’ve studied and practiced for many years. It dove-tailed into my Co-Active Coach Intstitue training along with my NLP, neuroscience, positive psychology training and inner healing interests. Last year I went on Shirzad Chamine ‘s 6-week programme – and immediately signed up for the full 9-month training alongside him and Bill Carmody – and I loved it even more.
I think I’ve always been a bit of a magpie coach and trainer, bringing into my work what was new, shiny and bright. And what I love about now being a newly Certified Mental Fitness Coach is that all those shiny gems of inspiration over the past 30 years have been polished and reformed as the learning is as still relevant as it always was – just presented in a new and simplified way. My experience from the training has not only fuelled my passion for supporting others to find radial changes in their life through one-step at a time action and thinking, but also clarified where my passions lie. Coaching and personal development has been a thread in my life for over 30 years, but when I look back over my life so has Inner Leadership and Mental Fitness. So whilst I’m celebrating becoming a PQ Mental Fitness Coach – I’m also celebrating the fact that I know what I love to do and that’s Coaching, Inner Leadership and Mental Fitness.
