When we are low on time, 15 minutes never seems quite enough time to make a dent in our busy day. Coming back to work after the weekend and tackling your inbox for some of us can take more than 15 minutes. Having a weekly catch-up meeting with your team invariably spills over from work chat to checking-in conversations. Even taking a quick phone call can go on and on.

When we are rushing from one thing to the next, taking 15 minutes to put a pause into our day can seem like an impossible challenge and with little benefit.  It always seems counterintuitive to slow down in order to speed up.

Yet, what if you knew how taking even 5 minutes to calm your mind before you immerse yourself in your daily routine could make you feel calmer, give you more clarity, and a greater sense of control and concentration – would you do it?

We’ve all heard how meditation has a profound effect on our mental and physical health.  It’s been a secret weapon for many successful businesspeople over the decades from Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, to Jeff Weiner and Bill Ford.  So, if it’s that good, why don’t we do it?

In my experience, most people assume that mediation or mindfulness has to take place at a specific time or location, often involving soft cushions, candles, and possibly calming music or bells.  When the reality is very different.  In fact, we all do some form of mindfulness every day without realising, when we get caught up in a task that takes us out of our mind and into our body.

To help you discover how adding some mindfulness practice into your busy day can help you reduce your stress and stop you getting distracted, then why not join me next week when I will be bringing back my 3 days of Mental Fitness HIIT sessions.  Just like physical high intensity impact training is great for your body, these Mental Fitness HIIT sessions tone up your mind in a matter of minutes.

In our 15-minute session, we’ll be exploring a positive reflection to help set up your day with a different outlook or contemplation, followed by a 1 and a 5-minute mindfulness practice.   Each day, we’ll do a different reflection and mindfulness technique. No experience is needed, just a willingness to try something new.
